Frequently Asked Questions
What are your prices?
▼
Our dog sitting service is $45 per night, per dog, which includes comprehensive care: walking, feeding, playtime, daily photo and video updates, cuddles, and full access to our spacious backyard where your dog can run, play, and relax throughout their stay. If you have two dogs from the same family, we offer a special rate of $70 per night for both pups—so they can stay together and keep each other company!
Do you do short-term and long-term stays?
▼
Absolutely! We accommodate both short-term stays (a night or a weekend) and long-term stays (weeks or longer). Whether you're going away for a quick trip or an extended vacation, your furry friend is welcome to stay with us for as long as needed.
What should I bring for my dog?
▼
Please bring the following items to ensure your dog feels comfortable and at home:
- Required: Food, food and water bowls, leash, poop bags, and any medication (if applicable)
- Important: Veterinarian contact information and pet insurance details
- Optional: Favorite toys, bed or blanket, and wipes for easy cleanup
Having familiar items helps your dog feel more comfortable during their stay!
Do you offer shower or grooming services?
▼
No, we do not currently offer bathing or grooming services. We focus on providing excellent care, playtime, exercise, and lots of love for your dog. We recommend scheduling grooming appointments with a professional groomer before or after your dog's stay with us.
Can you pet sit at our house?
▼
Unfortunately, no. At this time, we only offer dog sitting services at our home. This allows us to provide the best possible care in a safe, controlled environment where your dog can enjoy our big backyard and receive constant attention and supervision.
Do you offer day care services?
▼
Yes! We offer day care services for dogs who need care during the day while their pet parents are at work or running errands. Your dog will enjoy playtime, walks, meals, and plenty of attention in our home and big backyard. Day care rates are available upon request - please contact us for pricing and availability.
Do you train dogs?
▼
While we don't offer formal dog training services, many pet parents have noticed positive behavioral improvements in their dogs after staying with us! We maintain consistent house rules and boundaries—for example, dogs are not allowed in bedrooms, on beds, or in bathrooms. Through gentle, consistent reinforcement of these boundaries during their stay, dogs naturally learn good manners and respect for household spaces. It's a bonus benefit of staying at MenloBark! However, if your dog needs professional training, we recommend working with a certified dog trainer for best results.
Will you take our dogs to dog parks?
▼
No, we do not take dogs to public dog parks. While dog parks can be fun, they also come with unpredictable risks—unfamiliar dogs, potential conflicts, and exposure to illnesses. However, your pup will still get plenty of outdoor time! We take dogs on two walks per day around our neighborhood, and they have full access to our spacious backyard for playtime and exercise. Your furry friend will stay active and happy—just in a safe, controlled environment where we can give them our full attention.
Do we need to have our dogs vaccinated?
▼
Yes, all dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations before staying with us. Additionally, please let us know about any medications or preventatives your dog is currently taking, such as Simparica. This helps us provide the best care and ensures we're aware of your dog's complete health picture. Please bring any medications your dog needs along with clear instructions for administration.
Why did you start this business?
▼
I started MenloBark because I genuinely love dogs and find so much joy in caring for them while their pet parents are away. Knowing that families can relax on their trips while their furry friends are happy and well-cared-for brings me great satisfaction. I'm also an entrepreneur at heart, so I combined my passion for dogs with my love of business to create something meaningful. Every dog that stays with me becomes part of my extended family!
